Shima Wasabi was created in 2007 after we had been growing wasabi individually for several years and saw the need to work together to be able to offer a complete range of premium quality Australian-grown wasabi products to our growing customer base. Such customers include restaurants, fine food providores, market agents and wholesalers in every state of Australia.
The word Shima is a translation of the Japanese word for Island, hence Shima Wasabi translates to Island Wasabi.

All our wasabi is grown in the pristine Tasmanian environment, ensuring maximum flavour and quality. Across our farms we have the largest amount of fresh wasabi grown in Australia, as well as Australia’s only commercial hydroponic wasabi crop.
We harvest wasabi all year round, enabling us to meet customers’ needs every day of the year. We are very excited about the future for wasabi in Australia and we’d like Shima Wasabi to be the only name you ever need to think of when thinking wasabi.
